California Board Diversity Law
The California Board Diversity Law requires publicly traded companies based in California to have a certain number of women and members from underrepresented communities on their boards of directors. The law aims to promote diversity and inclusion in corporate governance. For example, companies must have at least one woman on their board and, depending on the size of the board, additional members from diverse backgrounds. This legislation seeks to improve decision-making and reflect the diversity of the state's population while creating equal opportunities in leadership roles within the business sector.
