Buerger (George)

Buerger's disease, also known as thromboangiitis obliterans, is a rare condition that affects blood vessels, primarily in the arms and legs. It leads to inflammation and blood clots, which can cause pain, ulcers, or even tissue damage due to reduced blood flow. The disease is strongly associated with tobacco use and tends to occur in young men. Symptoms often include pain during activity or at rest, and it can progress to severe complications. Treatment focuses on quitting smoking, managing symptoms, and, in severe cases, surgical intervention may be necessary to restore blood flow.
