Buddhist festivals
Buddhist festivals celebrate key events in the life of the Buddha and the teachings of Buddhism. Major festivals include Vesak, marking the Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and death; Asalha Puja, commemorating the Buddha's first sermon; and Magha Puja, celebrating the gathering of his first disciples. During these festivals, Buddhists engage in rituals such as meditation, prayer, and offering food to monks, fostering community and spiritual reflection. Each festival emphasizes core values of Buddhism, such as compassion, mindfulness, and the pursuit of enlightenment, promoting both personal growth and communal harmony.
