Board of Immigration Appeals
The Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) is a part of the U.S. justice system that reviews decisions made by immigration judges and certain decisions made by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. If someone disagrees with an immigration judge's ruling, such as a denial of asylum or deportation order, they can appeal to the BIA. The board examines the case to ensure the law was correctly applied and can affirm, reverse, or send the case back for further action. The BIA helps ensure fairness and consistency in immigration matters.
