Betz's Law

Betz's Law states that no wind turbine can capture more than 59.3% of the kinetic energy in the wind passing through it. This limit exists because to extract energy, the turbine must slow down the wind; if too much energy is drawn, the wind won't flow through the turbine effectively. This concept helps engineers design more efficient wind turbines and highlights the balance between energy extraction and maintaining wind flow. Understanding this law is crucial for optimizing wind energy generation and developing technologies for harnessing renewable energy efficiently.
