Betelgeuse
Betelgeuse is a massive, luminous star situated in the constellation Orion, about 700 light-years from Earth. It is a red supergiant, meaning it has expanded to a size thousands of times larger than our sun, giving it a reddish appearance. Betelgeuse is nearing the end of its life and will eventually explode as a supernova, briefly becoming one of the brightest objects in the night sky. Its variability and size make it a key subject of study for understanding stellar evolution, especially of large stars nearing the end of their life cycle.
