Battle of Tofrek

The Battle of Tofrek, fought on March 22, 1885, was a significant conflict during the Sudanese campaign led by British and Egyptian forces against Mahdist Sudanese rebels. Located near the town of Tofrek, the battle arose from a strategic effort to secure control over the Sudan, which was experiencing turmoil due to the rise of the Mahdist movement. The British, commanded by General Patrick Gordon Bosanquet, faced fierce opposition from the Mahdist forces.
