Mahdist forces

Mahdist forces refer to the military and followers of Muhammad Ahmad, who declared himself the Mahdi— a messianic figure — in Sudan during the late 19th century. They fought against Egyptian and British control, aiming to establish an Islamic state based on religious principles. The Mahdist movement grew into a significant rebellion, leading to the establishment of the Mahdist Sudanese state from 1885 to 1898. Their forces were organized around religious motivation, with guerrilla tactics, and played a key role in challenging colonial and regional powers of the time.
