Battle of Kannauj

The Battle of Kannauj, fought in 1540, was a significant conflict in Indian history between the Mughal Emperor Humayun and the Afghan leader Sher Shah Suri. Humayun sought to reclaim his empire after being ousted, but Sher Shah, a formidable strategist, decisively defeated him. This battle marked the rise of the Suri dynasty and led to a brief period of Afghan rule in North India. Sher Shah implemented various administrative reforms and infrastructure projects, laying the groundwork for future governance in the region. Humayun eventually regained the throne in 1555, but the battle shifted power dynamics in India.
