Battle of Basantar

The Battle of Basantar took place during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, primarily on December 4–16. It was a significant engagement between Indian and Pakistani forces in the Basantar River area of Jammu and Kashmir. Indian tanks and infantry clashed with Pakistani forces defending the region. The battle showcased India’s armored capabilities and strategic planning, leading to substantial territorial gains for India, contributing to the eventual liberation of East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).
