Battle of Ain Jalut

The Battle of Ain Jalut, fought in 1260 in modern-day Israel, was a crucial confrontation between the Mongol Empire and the Mamluks of Egypt. After the Mongols had conquered much of the Middle East, they advanced towards Egypt. The Mamluks, led by General Qutuz, decisively defeated the Mongols, marking the first major halt in their expansion. This battle demonstrated the effectiveness of the Mamluk cavalry and shifted the balance of power in the region, protecting the Islamic world from Mongol domination and establishing the Mamluks as a significant force in Middle Eastern history.
