Born on October 2, 1869, he advocated for non-violent resistance, known as Satyagraha, believing it was possible to achieve social and political change without using violence. Gandhi emphasized principles like truth, simplicity, and communal harmony. His efforts inspired movements for civil rights and freedom worldwide. He played a pivotal role in India's independence, which was achieved in 1947, but remained committed to social reform until his assassination in 1948. Today, he is celebrated as a symbol of peace and non-violence.
