Bamiyan
Bamiyan is a region in Afghanistan, best known for its monumental statues of Buddha carved into the cliffs over 1,500 years ago. These statues, once the tallest of their kind in the world, symbolized the region's rich history as a center of trade and cultural exchange on the Silk Road. Sadly, they were destroyed by the Taliban in 2001, drawing global condemnation. Today, Bamiyan is recognized for its cultural significance and natural beauty, attracting tourists and scholars interested in both its ancient heritage and ongoing recovery efforts.
