Baldwin I of Flanders

Baldwin I of Flanders (circa 1060–1118) was a significant historical figure who became the first King of Jerusalem in 1100 after the First Crusade. He was a nobleman from Flanders, and his leadership helped establish Christian control over Jerusalem. Baldwin's reign was marked by efforts to strengthen the newly founded Kingdom of Jerusalem, manage conflicts with neighboring Muslim states, and promote trade and settlements. His rule laid the groundwork for future Crusader states in the region, making him a key figure in medieval history and the Crusades.
