Autonomías en España

In Spain, "Autonomías" refers to the country's system of regional governments, which are granted varying degrees of self-governance. Established in the late 1970s, this model recognizes Spain’s diverse cultures and languages. There are 17 Autonomous Communities and 2 Autonomous Cities, each with its own parliament and government, responsible for areas like education and health. While Spain’s central government retains control over key matters like defense and foreign policy, the Autonomías have significant authority, allowing regions to tailor policies to their local needs and identities. This decentralization aims to promote regional autonomy while maintaining national unity.
