Arminius (Hermann)

Arminius, also known as Hermann, was a chieftain of the Cherusci tribe in ancient Germania during the early 1st century AD. He is best known for leading a coalition of Germanic tribes in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD, where they ambushed and decisively defeated three Roman legions. This victory halted Roman expansion into Germania and secured his legacy as a symbol of resistance against foreign domination. Arminius is often celebrated in Germanic history and culture as a national hero who fought for the freedom of his people.
