Arid Lands
Arid lands are regions that receive very little precipitation, typically less than 250 millimeters (about 10 inches) of rain a year. This lack of moisture results in dry conditions, sparse vegetation, and unique ecosystems. Commonly found in deserts and semi-arid regions, arid lands can support specific plant and animal life adapted to these harsh environments. Despite their challenges, arid lands are important for biodiversity, agriculture (like drought-resistant crops), and natural resources. Understanding these ecosystems is crucial for managing them effectively and addressing issues like desertification and climate change.
