Arakan Army

The Arakan Army (AA) is a rebel group based in Myanmar's Rakhine State, primarily composed of ethnic Rohingya and Rakhine people. Established in 2009, the AA aims to secure greater autonomy and rights for the Rakhine ethnic group. The organization is engaged in conflict with the Myanmar military, particularly since 2018, seeking to address grievances related to political marginalization and economic underdevelopment.
