Angelina Grimké Weld
Angelina Grimké Weld (1805-1879) was a prominent American abolitionist, women's rights advocate, and speaker. Born into a slaveholding family in South Carolina, she rejected slavery and became a leading voice for its abolition. Alongside her sister Sarah, she famously spoke out against social injustices and promoted women's rights, arguing for equality both in society and within the church. Grimké’s influential writings, including "Letters on the Equality of the Sexes," challenged societal norms and inspired future generations of reformers, making her a key figure in 19th-century social movements.
