Anders Celsius

Anders Celsius was a Swedish astronomer best known for creating the Celsius temperature scale, which is widely used today. Introduced in 1742, the scale originally defined zero degrees as the boiling point of water and 100 degrees as the freezing point. However, it was later inverted to its current form, where 0 degrees corresponds to freezing and 100 degrees to boiling. Celsius's system is part of the metric system and is recognized for its simplicity and practicality in everyday temperature measurement. His work laid the foundation for modern meteorology and thermometry.
