Amniotic fluid
Amniotic fluid is a clear, slightly yellowish liquid that surrounds and protects a developing fetus in the womb during pregnancy. It fills the amniotic sac and serves several important functions, such as cushioning the fetus from injuries, allowing for movement and growth, and helping regulate temperature. This fluid also plays a role in lung development and provides a medium for the fetus to practice swallowing and breathing movements. The amount of amniotic fluid typically increases until about 36 weeks of pregnancy, then gradually decreases as the baby prepares for birth.
