Amir Amanullah Khan was the ruler of Afghanistan from 1919 to 1929, known for his efforts to modernize the country and assert its independence from British influence. Following the Third Anglo-Afghan War in 1919, he successfully declared Afghanistan's full sovereignty. Amanullah introduced various reforms in education, women's rights, and infrastructure, aiming to modernize Afghan society. However, his radical changes faced resistance from conservative factions, leading to political instability. In 1929, he was overthrown and fled. Despite his challenges, Amanullah Khan's reign is often remembered for its ambitious modernization efforts and the struggle for Afghan autonomy.
