Ameritech was a major telecommunications company in the United States that operated primarily in the Midwest. Founded in 1983, it provided telephone services, including landline and cellular communications. Ameritech was one of the original "Baby Bells," created after the breakup of AT&T’s monopoly on telephone services. In 1999, the company was acquired by SBC Communications, which eventually merged with AT&T Inc. Ameritech played a significant role in expanding phone services and technology during its operation, contributing to the evolution of telecommunications in America.
