Al-Hanbaliyya
Al-Hanbaliyya, or Hanbali Islam, is one of the four main schools of thought in Sunni Islamic jurisprudence. Founded by Ahmad ibn Hanbal in the 9th century, it emphasizes strict adherence to the Quran and Hadith (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad) and places less reliance on reason and consensus compared to other schools. Hanbali scholars are known for their conservative interpretations and a focus on limiting the role of personal judgment in legal matters. Today, it is predominantly practiced in Saudi Arabia and has had a significant influence on Islamic law and thought in the region.
