Aesthetic Internalism

Aesthetic Internalism is a philosophical view asserting that the appreciation of beauty and artistic value is rooted in internal aspects of the observer, such as emotions, thoughts, and experiences, rather than external criteria like cultural norms or societal standards. According to this perspective, individuals derive meaning and significance from their personal feelings and cognitive responses to art or beauty, making the experience subjective. This contrasts with Aesthetic Externalism, which emphasizes the role of outside factors in shaping aesthetic judgments. Essentially, Aesthetic Internalism focuses on the inner world of the individual in understanding what is beautiful or valuable.
