acute vestibular syndrome

Acute vestibular syndrome (AVS) is a sudden onset of symptoms related to balance and spatial orientation, often caused by issues in the inner ear or brain. Common symptoms include vertigo (a spinning sensation), dizziness, imbalance, and sometimes nausea. AVS can result from various conditions, such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), vestibular neuritis, or strokes affecting the vestibular pathways. It can be unsettling but is usually treatable. If someone experiences these symptoms suddenly, especially with additional neurological signs, they should seek medical attention to rule out serious causes.
