Zheng Guanying

Zheng Guanying (1842-1922) was a Chinese scholar, writer, and reformist known for his advocacy of modernization and national reform during the late Qing Dynasty. His most famous work, "The Awakening of China," called for social, political, and economic changes to strengthen China against foreign pressures. Zheng emphasized the importance of education, industrial development, and self-strengthening policies, believing that China needed to adapt to modernity while preserving its cultural identity.
