Zhang Qian

Zhang Qian was a Chinese explorer and diplomat during the Han Dynasty around the 2nd century BCE. He is best known for his journeys to Central Asia, which established early trade routes that later became part of the Silk Road. Sent by Emperor Wu to gather intelligence and promote trade with Western regions, Zhang's travels revealed new cultures, goods, and ideas.
