Zeitgeber

A Zeitgeber, which means "time giver" in German, is an external cue that helps regulate our internal biological clock, known as the circadian rhythm. These cues synchronize our sleep-wake cycles and other bodily functions with the environment. The primary Zeitgeber is natural light; exposure to daylight helps maintain a consistent daily pattern. Others include temperature, meal times, and social activities. By receiving these signals, our bodies know when to be alert or relaxed, ensuring that physiological processes align with the day-night cycle for optimal health and functioning.
