Yield point

The yield point is the stage in a material’s deformation where it begins to change shape permanently under stress. Imagine stretching a rubber band: up to a certain point, it will return to its original shape if you let go. However, if you stretch it too much, it won’t quite return. Similarly, at the yield point, a material can no longer go back to its original form after being deformed. This concept is crucial in engineering and construction, as it helps determine how much force a material can withstand before it becomes permanently damaged.
