Tensile test

A tensile test is a method used to determine how strong a material is under tension, or pulling forces. In this test, a sample of the material—like metal or plastic—is stretched until it breaks. Scientists measure how much force it takes to pull the material apart and how much it stretches before breaking. This provides important information about the material's strength, ductility (how much it can deform), and other properties, helping engineers choose the right materials for building safe structures, vehicles, and products.
