Yathrib

Yathrib, known later as Medina, is a city in present-day Saudi Arabia. Historically, it was a significant hub for farming, trade, and community life. In 622 CE, Islamic tradition marks it as the city where Prophet Muhammad and his followers migrated from Mecca—an event called the Hijra—leading to its importance in Islamic history. Medina became the political and spiritual center for early Muslims, shaping the development of Islam. Today, it remains a sacred city, especially for pilgrims performing the Hajj pilgrimage.
