Xeroderma Pigmentosum

Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP) is a rare genetic disorder where the body's ability to repair damage caused by ultraviolet (UV) sunlight is impaired. This means that exposure to sunlight can quickly cause skin damage, including frequent sunburns, pigmentation changes, and a high risk of skin cancers at an early age. XP results from mutations affecting the DNA repair process, leading to increased sensitivity to UV rays. Individuals with XP need to take strict protective measures against sunlight, such as wearing protective clothing and using high-SPF sunscreens, to reduce their health risks.
