X chromosome
The X chromosome is one of the two sex chromosomes in humans, the other being the Y chromosome. Each person typically has two sex chromosomes, with females having two X chromosomes (XX) and males having one X and one Y chromosome (XY). The X chromosome carries a significant number of genes that are important for various bodily functions, including development and brain function. This means conditions linked to the X chromosome can affect males and females differently. For example, certain genetic disorders are more common in males because they have only one X chromosome to carry the necessary genes.
