William Miller

William Miller was a 19th-century American Baptist preacher known for his role in the Millerite movement, which anticipated the imminent return of Jesus Christ. He gained followers by calculating that Christ would return around 1843-1844, based on his interpretation of biblical prophecies. This prediction generated significant excitement and led to a large gathering of believers. However, when the expected event did not occur, it resulted in what is known as the "Great Disappointment." Despite this, the movement eventually contributed to the formation of new religious groups, including the Seventh-day Adventists, which continue to exist today.
