West Germany (Federal Republic of Germany)

West Germany, officially known as the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), was the democratic state created after World War II in 1949, comprising the western part of what had been Germany. It existed until reunification with East Germany (the German Democratic Republic) in 1990. West Germany was characterized by a strong economy, political stability, and close ties with Western allies, particularly within NATO and the European Economic Community. Its capital was Bonn, and it played a significant role in European politics during the Cold War, promoting democracy and market-oriented policies in contrast to the communist East.
