Vsevolod Meyerhold

Vsevolod Meyerhold was a pioneering Russian theater director and actor, active in the early 20th century. He is best known for developing a bold theatrical style called "Biomechanics," which focused on physical expression and the body’s movement to convey emotions and ideas. Meyerhold rejected traditional realism in theater, aiming instead for a more experimental and symbolic approach. He was influential in shaping modern theater techniques and emphasized the importance of the actor's physicality, stage design, and innovative use of space.
