Vodou

Vodou (sometimes spelled Voodoo) is a spiritual tradition originating in West Africa that developed further in Haiti, blending African beliefs with Catholicism and indigenous practices. It involves worshiping spirits called lwa (or loa), who act as intermediaries between humans and a supreme creator. Practitioners honor these spirits through rituals, offerings, music, dance, and prayer to seek guidance, protection, or healing. Vodou emphasizes community, ancestral connection, and the importance of spiritual balance. It’s a rich, complex faith system that is often misunderstood, highlighting the cultural resilience and spiritual depth of its followers.
