Visigoths

The Visigoths were a branch of the Goths, a Germanic people who played a significant role in the decline of the Roman Empire. Originating in what is now Scandinavia, they migrated southward, eventually settling in the region of present-day Spain and Portugal. The Visigoths are known for sacking Rome in 410 AD under their leader, Alaric I. They established a kingdom in the Iberian Peninsula that lasted until the 8th century.
