Viral STIs
Viral STIs, or sexually transmitted infections, are infections caused by viruses that can be transmitted through sexual contact. Common viral STIs include HIV (human immunodeficiency virus), herpes (HSV), human papillomavirus (HPV), and hepatitis B and C. These infections can lead to various health issues, ranging from mild symptoms to serious conditions like cancer or immune system damage. While some viral STIs can be managed with treatment, others have no cure. Prevention through safe sex practices, such as condom use and vaccination (for HPV and hepatitis), is crucial to reduce the risk of transmission.
