Vinayaka Chaturthi
Vinayaka Chaturthi, also known as Ganesh Chaturthi, is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed god of wisdom and prosperity. Observed mainly in India, it falls in August or September, depending on the lunar calendar. Devotees bring home clay idols of Ganesha, offering prayers and festive sweets. The celebration lasts for 10 days, culminating in a grand procession where the idols are immersed in water, symbolizing the cycle of creation and dissolution. The festival fosters community spirit, devotion, and cultural traditions, making it one of the most significant religious events in India.
