Uzbek National Movement

The Uzbek National Movement refers to the efforts by the Uzbek people to establish and promote their national identity, culture, and rights, particularly during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This movement emerged in response to Russian colonization and aimed to preserve Uzbek traditions, language, and social structures. It united various intellectuals and political activists who advocated for social reforms, education, and independence. Gaining momentum in the early 20th century, it played a crucial role in the eventual formation of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic in 1924 and continued to influence Uzbekistan's quest for sovereignty after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
