UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator)

The Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) is a coordinate system that divides the Earth into a grid for precise mapping and navigation. It splits the globe into 60 zones, each 6 degrees of longitude wide, allowing locations to be identified with a unique set of numbers called easting and northing. Instead of using traditional latitude and longitude, UTM provides a flat, rectangular coordinate system ideal for detailed mapping, surveys, and GPS technology, ensuring consistent and accurate positioning across different regions.
