United Provinces

The United Provinces was a former political entity in northern India, created during British rule. It combined several regions, including modern-day Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, into a single administrative unit in 1902 to streamline governance. The territory was also known as the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh, reflecting its main areas. It operated as a province under British control until India gained independence in 1947, when it was reorganized into the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The name "United Provinces" signified its composition of multiple regions united under British administration.
