Ukrainian SSR

The Ukrainian SSR, or Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, was a republic within the Soviet Union from 1922 to 1991. It was one of the largest and most populous Soviet republics, located in Eastern Europe. The Ukrainian SSR had its own government and managed local affairs, but key decisions were controlled by the central Soviet government. It played a significant role in Soviet history, especially during events like World War II and the Holodomor, a devastating famine in the 1930s. Ukraine declared independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, following its dissolution.
