Typicality
Typicality refers to how representative or common a particular example is within a broader category. In general knowledge, it helps us understand how closely something aligns with our mental image or stereotype of that category. For instance, a golden retriever is typically seen as a "typical" dog because it embodies many features people commonly associate with dogs, such as friendliness and playfulness. In contrast, a more unusual breed, like a Basenji, might not fit that typical image as neatly. Typicality influences how we categorize and relate to information in our everyday understanding.
