Tukoji Rao Holkar II was a prominent Maratha ruler who governed the Indore State in central India during the 19th century. Born in 1825, he was part of the Holkar dynasty and became the Maharaja in 1848. His reign was marked by efforts to modernize the state, improve infrastructure, and foster economic development. Tukoji Rao II was known for his administrative reforms and support of education. He played a significant role in the historical context of the Maratha Empire and contributed to the cultural and political landscape of India before the British colonial rule became dominant. He passed away in 1886.
