Treatment-Resistant Depression

Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) refers to a form of depression that doesn’t improve after trying multiple standard treatments, like antidepressant medications or therapy. Despite these efforts, the symptoms—such as persistent sadness, loss of interest, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating—remain, significantly affecting daily life. TRD occurs for various reasons, including differences in individual biology, underlying health issues, or the severity of depression. Managing TRD often requires alternative approaches, such as different medication combinations, specialized treatments like ketamine therapy, or other interventions tailored to the person's specific needs.
