Trastuzumab

Trastuzumab, commonly known by the brand name Herceptin, is a targeted therapy used primarily to treat certain types of breast cancer and gastric cancer that overexpress a protein called HER2. By binding to the HER2 protein on cancer cells, trastuzumab helps slow or stop their growth and can enhance the effectiveness of chemotherapy. This medication is usually given through an injection or intravenous infusion and has significantly improved outcomes for patients with HER2-positive cancers, making it an important option in modern cancer treatment.
