Transjordan
Transjordan was the historical name for a region east of the Jordan River, mainly corresponding to present-day Jordan. From the early 20th century until 1946, it was a British mandate territory created after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. Initially part of a larger territory called the British Mandate of Palestine, Transjordan was established as a separate entity under British control, with its own government. In 1946, it gained independence, becoming the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It is characterized by a mix of desert landscapes, mountainous regions, and a diverse population including Arabs, Circassians, and others.
